Talmiz Ahmad's book, Children of Abraham at War, launched at WHSmith
Talmiz Ahmad's new book, Children of Abraham at War – The Clash of Messianic Militarisms, was launched at WHSmith, Jawaharat Al Shatti, by HE Anil Wadhwa, Indian Ambassador to Oman. Talmiz Ahmad, himself a former Indian Ambassador to Oman and presently Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was present at the Book Launch to answer questions and sign copies of his book.
"It's great to be back in Muscat," said Mr. Ahmad, "and I am overwhelmed with the response that the book has generated."
This landmark book, published last year, has attracted excellent reviews from Indian, Saudi and international scholars. The book examines the role of religion in providing the ideology, organization and motivating impulse in contemporary violence. The author has pointed out that messianic belief, which is central to the three Semitic religious traditions, while providing comfort during periods of crisis and calamity, also demonises the "Other", and is used to provide "divine sanction" for the perpetration of extraordinary violence upon the evil "other".

Nabil's book on the North Pole expedition launched at WHSmith, Jawarat Al Shatti.
Nabil Riadh Al Busaidy, the well known Omani adventurer recently launched his book "The Arab who took on the Arctic" at the WHSmith store in Jawarhat A' Shati on the 28th of April. The book tells of his exciting adventures in the "Oman North Pole Expedition", which was a feat in itself, covering 650 kilometers over frozen sea and ice.
Just before the book signing ceremony, Nabil led an interactive question and answer session inviting an enthusiastic audience who gathered at the launch to sound their views. This was followed by light refreshments, after which people gathered around him to ask him more about his expedition.
